Nothing Like the Sun

  • My mind has erected such a form
  • My lover's shape does not recapitulate.
  • Such figures that cause me to be warm
  • Is not what I see in my mate.
  • Flights of fancy distract my mind
  • That holds not my love in view.
  • I constantly search, but do not find
  • What I seek, no matter what I do.
  • Her dance does not rise above the earth
  • It is in the dirt that we both commune.
  • Her care engenders second birth;
  • I fear I cannot learn too soon
  • The lesson which strikes at my heart,
  • Where I do end, there love does start.
